How I Applied Leather Craft Principles to Improve Family Life: Lessons from the Leather Goods Workshop
Today, I want to talk to you about something personal. I feel like sharing something with you. A while back, I realised that despite all my efforts to keep a home full of love and harmony, something wasn’t quite right. There was a disconnect I couldn’t ignore, a sense that the balance I cherished was slowly slipping away. It wasn’t anything drastic, but I felt my home needed a change, something to bring back that warmth I always wanted for my family.
By the way, I don’t think I’ve ever introduced myself. Oops! My name is Pepe Montiel, a member of the CRUSH team with over 20 years of experience in the world of leather craftsmanship. I firmly believe that sharing is one of the most important things we can do in life. Anyway, back to what I was saying…
In the midst of that feeling I mentioned earlier, during that period of reflection, I decided to pick up something I had neglected: exercise. I returned to the gym, started paying attention to my diet, and began to notice how I felt physically and mentally. Little by little, I realised that not only was my health improving, but I was also regaining that balance I so wanted for my home. I understood that by taking care of myself, I was also creating a healthier and more harmonious environment for everyone.
Today, I want to share with you some of the things that have helped me reconnect with my family and bring harmony back into our home. They’re simple things, but I assure you, when you put them into practice, they make a big difference.

Create Connection Rituals
The daily hustle can make us forget the importance of small moments of connection with our loved ones. One of the first things I did was establish a small ritual: dinner without phones. It was incredible to see how, by turning off the screens, conversations became longer and more meaningful. Perhaps for you, it could be a family walk after dinner or a game night on the weekends. The important thing is that it’s a moment just for you, without distractions. Quality time.

Dedicate a Space for Rest
At home, having a place where you can relax and unwind is vital. For me, it’s that corner with my music and favourite cushion. This space not only helps me recharge after a long day, but it’s also become a refuge for others in the house. My family knows it’s a place of tranquillity, and it’s brought a lot of peace to our home.

Don’t Forget to Take Care of Yourself
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of taking care of myself so I can take care of others. Going back to the gym and paying attention to what I eat has been a big change for me. Not only do I feel better physically, but I’m also more present and calm at home. Whether it’s doing some morning exercise or preparing healthy meals together as a family, taking care of yourself is key to being able to take care of your loved ones.

Commit to Sustainability
I’ve always believed that teaching my two daughters to care for the Planet is essential. We started doing things together like recycling, choosing responsible products, and even growing our own vegetables. You can’t imagine how rewarding it is to see how these small gestures not only help the world but also bring us closer as a family.
